What it is
Epithalon (also spelled epitalon) is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide derived from a pineal-gland extract, associated with longevity research from Russian institutes going back decades.
The claims attached to it — telomere elongation, life extension — trace to animal work and human studies published largely in Russian-language literature that has not been replicated by independent groups. It is not an approved drug anywhere, and Western regulatory review of it essentially does not exist.

How it works
The proposed mechanism is telomerase activation — reawakening the enzyme that rebuilds chromosome end-caps — plus pineal effects on melatonin secretion. Both proposals rest on cell-culture and animal work from the originating laboratories; neither has independent human confirmation.
Where it came from
Epithalon descends from Soviet-era 'peptide bioregulator' research at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, which produced decades of publications and dietary-supplement spinoffs. The program's longevity claims — including multi-decade human cohort reports — have never been independently replicated outside that research lineage.
